Travel information | CASPT Rotterdam

OV-chip card:

In the Netherlands all public transport services can be paid via the OV-chip card. This is a smartcard with which you can check-in and check-out at the available check-in and check-out devices.

In train and metro: you check-in and check-out at the stations.
In all other modes: you check-in and check-out at the vehicles.

Note that a check-out is required. Otherwise you pay the maximum possible tariff, which is probably more than you are supposed to pay.

Upon registration at the registration desk of CASPT, you will receive a rechargeable OV-chipkaart with 10 euros balance on it. So, when traveling to CASPT, we advise you to buy a “single-use ticket” for the trains of Netherlands Railways and a “1 hour tram/bus pass” (3 euro) or “2 hour travel pass” (3,50 euro) for the Rotterdam public transport operator RET.

More info about train tickets can be found at the tariff page of Netherlands Railways.
Note that for the train you may also buy an e-ticket in advance via this website.
More info about tickets for the Rotterdam public transport system can be found at the tariff page of RET.

From Rotterdam Central Station to nhow:
You can take a metro (line D or E) or a tram (line 20, 23 or 25) from “Rotterdam Centraal Station” to station “Wilhelminaplein”. From station “Wilhelminaplein” it is just a few minutes’ walk to nhow.

From Schiphol Amsterdam Airport to Rotterdam Central Station:
When arriving at Schiphol Amsterdam Airport you are advised to take the Intercity Direct train, which brings you within 30 minutes to Rotterdam Central Station. Departure times from the airport are X:09 and X:39. Note that using the Intercity Direct train requires to buy a supplement ticket of 2,30 euro. This supplement ticket can be bought online or at the ticket vending machines at the airport. Note that a supplement ticket can also be bought in the train, but then at a much higher price (10 euro). The regular direct trains run at X:16 and X:46 and bring you in 52 minutes to Rotterdam Central Station. These trains do not require a supplement ticket.

From Rotterdam/The Hague Airport:
When arriving at Rotterdam/The Hague Airport you may take bus line 33 to metro station “Meijersplein” or to Rotterdam Central Station (see above). From metro station “Meijersplein” you can take metro line E to station “Wilhelminaplein”. From station “Wilhelminaplein” it is just a few minutes’ walk to nhow. Since the airport is close to the city, an alternative may be to take a taxi.
